Spring Cleaning Tips for a Happy Home & Healthy Mind
It's a new week and a new season, so it's time for a fresh start. Spring is the season of growth and the perfect time to restore some organisation, routine and mindfulness into your life. There's no better way to kick off that restorative vibe than with a spot of spring cleaning.
Declutter Your Space
Whether this is your whole house or the room you're spending most of your time in, you need to Marie Kondo that s**t. Have you used it in the last year? No? Throw it the f*?k away. If you can, donate it to your local women's shelter or charity shop. You don't need it, but someone else will. Of course this doesn't apply to your casual clutter, I can't be the only one who has started to build piles of random stuff I ordered at 10pm on my 46th consecutive Saturday night in. Give your things a place and keep them there and only keep things that bring you happiness.
Cleanse Your Space
Now I know not everyone is into spirituality, crystals and moon charts but something has to be said for cleansing your space on a mindset level. You can't be the best version of yourself or the most productive you if you're constantly dreading going into your home office or if your living room makes you go into a TV coma for 18 hours a day. Open up those windows, let the natural light in, light a candle or some incense and move some stuff around. You need to bring a new vibe into your room and the best way to do that is to make it feel like a new room. Even if it is just changing the orientation of your desk or hanging some new pictures on your wall, you'll feel so much better for it. If you're into spirituality, a bit of sage burning never hurt nobody.
Get Yourself Organised
Spring is the perfect time to make some new habits, being organised makes life so much easier. If you've been putting off doing certain tasks make sure they're all done, no more procrastination. Start writing down your intentions for the day and make a list of everything you need to get done. Sort your computer files out, purge your unused apps and organise your calendar (hopefully it will start to fill back up soon with non-work related outings). Make a goal list for 2021, give yourself things to feel purposeful about. We have been on quarantine mode for so long, you need to breathe a breath of fresh air into your life.
I hope you use this change in season to focus on yourself and give yourself the space to be positive about 2021. I'm off to light some sage and Marie Kondo my life!
